Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Roseville Joint Union High School District is proud to support students in achieving the prestigious Seal of Biliteracy. This recognition celebrates students who have attained high proficiency in two or more languages, an accomplishment that not only enhances academic and career opportunities but also fosters a deeper appreciation for diverse cultures. Most of our students will automatically meet the criteria by attaining a 3.0 GPA over 4 years of English and a 3.0 GPA over 4 years of a second language (with a proficiency speaking assessment).
Why pursue the Seal of Biliteracy?
-
Recognition: Students who earn the Seal of Biliteracy will be honored at graduation and senior awards ceremonies.
-
Opportunities: This achievement is a valuable distinction for college applications and career pathways.
-
Support from RJUHSD: To help students meet the criteria for language courses that are not available at their school, RJUHSD provides one free language assessment per student to demonstrate proficiency.
Encourage your student to take this important step toward showcasing their bilingual or multilingual skills. If you have questions about the program or eligibility requirements, please reach out to your student’s school counselor.
We are excited to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our students as they pursue this remarkable achievement!
If you have any questions, please contact your student’s counselor or Isabel Govea, igovea@rjuhsd.us
