Excellence in AVID: Equipping Students for the Next Level
As an AVID National Demonstration Site, Roseville High School serves as a model for academic excellence and college readiness. Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is a year-long elective course integrated into the regular school day, designed to bridge the gap between student potential and university performance.
Our curriculum provides a structured roadmap to higher education by focusing on three professional pillars:
- Student Agency: Developing the "soft skills" of success—building professional relationships, persisting through rigorous challenges, and taking ownership of one’s learning.
- Rigorous Academic Preparedness: writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading, supported by collaborative academic tutorials every Tuesday and Thursday.
- Opportunity Knowledge: Expanding future readiness by navigating college admissions, exploring career pathways, and building the "hidden curriculum" skills needed to succeed in post-secondary environments.
At Roseville High, we believe that when individual determination is paired with proven academic systems, every student is equipped with the tools and the tenacity to navigate the road to college and beyond.
