AVID
Roseville High School has the distinction of being an AVID National Demonstration site. Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is an academic elective course that prepares students for college readiness and success, and is scheduled during the regular school day as a year-long course. Students prepare for and participate in academic tutorials each Tuesday and Thursday. Students receive instruction that build essential skills, including:

Student Agency: building relationships, persisting through obstacles, activating knowledge and skills

Rigorous Academic Preparedness: writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading

Opportunity Knowledge: advancing college preparedness, building career preparedness, and developing future readiness

AVID's mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.
Avid stands for Advancement via Individual Determination, which propels students' college dreams into becoming a reality. Through the leadership provided, instructional session, and lessons that reach outside traditional academic teaching, the AVID program takes less advantageous students and provide a path to college. The program is made for those students who do not truly have the opportunity to be college-ready gain this opportunity.
